Check Your Voter Registration Status Online- The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has made it easy for Nigerian voters to obtain permanent voter’s cards and check their voters’ registration status as we approach the 2019 general elections. you can now check your voters card online to confirm its authenticity to exercise your electoral franchise as you read below.

The first step to exercising your franchise in the forthcoming polls is to sign up for voters registration at any of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) centres close to you in order to be issued a permanent voters card (PVC).

If you are registered but have not yet been issued a PVC, there are a number of ways to verify your registration status as outlined below.

The outlined steps are aimed at verifying if your data was properly captured at the point of registration. They also help to determine eligibility as well as polling units even before elections.

I: You should check for your name during the display of voters’ register.

II: Check the INEC website i.e. www.inecnigeria.org. It is a platform for checking your registration status.

III: You can check by sending a text message to this number, 08171646879.Text Format: State (space) last name (space) last five digits of your VIN. Example: Kogi Unekwu-ojo 54321.

To confirm if one had registered or not, one could visit: http://voterreg.inecnigeria.org and follow the instructions on the site.

The link will lead to a voters registration verification platform where one would have to fill a form to check one’s status. The form will require the person’s state of residence, surname and Voters Identification Number, VIN.

In the case where the individual forgets his or her VIN, there is an option to use the day, month, and year of registration to verify one’s status.

Although the link provides information for only 12 states, the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of INEC, Rotimi oyekanmi, said the continuous registration process is going on in the 36 states.
